The Hartt Bass Band
The Hartt Bass Band is a group of double bass players ranging from 2-8 players, depending on the repertoire. Directed by Robert Black, the group presents a wide variety of music, ranging from the Renaissance to Metallica, and has premiered works by James Sellars, Ken Steen, and Steve Rosenhaus. Past projects have included a collaboration with Yoshiko Chuman and the School of Hard Knocks in a work for 8 dancing bassists, premiered in 1998. The Hartt Bass Ensemble has appeared in a variety of venues and festivals including the Bang on a Can Marathon, the River Crossing Series, The Allentown Arts Museum, and apple orchards in Upstate New York.
