Rainbow Jimmies

Rainbow Jimmies is written in celebration of my engagement to Katharine Schroeder. The title refers to a little inside joke that I have with my fiance about the correct term for the ice cream toppings commonly referred to sprinkles (she calls them "shots" but will settle for "jimmies"). The opening section is somewhat programmatic of the sound of sprinkles being applied. The piece, which is influenced by "cut and paste" electronica, takes advantage of the All-Stars' keen rhythmic sense and groovability in complex scenerios. The piece is intended to be lite, joyous and an ecstatically happy celebration.
Rainbow Jimmies was commissioned by Bang on a Can's People's Commissioning Fund and by the Jerome Foundation in 2006.
